Default Coolant question

My coolant was at the min level the other day and I added coolant this afternoon and accidently added too much. Is this going to be bad for my car and is there anything I can do to fix it?

Take a turkey baster and suck coolant out of the reservoir until it's jsut below the max line when the engine is cold.

It needs to be around the minimum line when cold. When hot, some of the coolant might come out into the reservoir, taking it up near the Max line. If it's at Max when cold, you could have overflowing problems.

I've never experienced this. I've always made sure my coolant is just below the max line when cold. It then expands to be just under tip top full when hot, unless there is another issue such as boil over, head gasket issues etc.

Thanks for pointing this out! FSM bleed method states to fill reservoir to MAX line after the engine is fully warmed up after the complete bleeding procedure. I never noticed this detail!

This indicates the coolant should be no higher than the max line at operating temperature. *good to know*

Yep, exactly. Coolant in the tank should stay between Min and Max lines at all times.
