Default computer question

I have a 1998 Civic H/b, I put a 2000 Civic EX engine in and kept the DX wiring harness. I just picked up a 2000 Civic EX computer and a harness to change OBDIIA to OBDIIB and to use the EXs full potential (along with V-Tech).
I plugged the new computer and harness in and it is doing something weird.
At idle, it pulses from 1500 to 1600 Rpms, and when I give it gas, it only goes to 5000 Rpms.
Does anyone have a solution to my problem?
Please?

To use the full potential of your EX along with VTEC you should have gone obd1

The IACs are different and need to be wired correctly. You should also be throwing a code 91 as well and did you hook your secondary oxygen sensor up?

Yes, I'll give that a try.
hope it works.

If I got a harness for an OBDIIA to OBDI, would I have to alter anyhting or is is a direct changeover?

what do you mean the IACs are different.
The engine = 2000 ex
the wiring = 1998 dx
the computer = 2000 ex

This is important....like someone above said, there are different IACV's for the Vtec and non-vtec models. You should be throwing a cel code 14.

You need to source a plug and do the IACv plug fix. There is a diagram somewhere here on Honda-Tech.

you wouldn't happen to know where that diagram is do you?
The one different wire, is an orange wire.
would it be wrong to just cut this wire and leave it hanging or should I cut it and ground it out?

well, I haven't had the time to do anything yet, the snow came and motivation left.
so I am still waiting, I think I will have it under control, but if I don't, I'll come back here to seek more knowledge.
thanks for all your help.
