Default Compression vs Leakdown

Need a quick answer..

Compression measures cranking pressure. Leakdown measures if you have any leaks in your chamber.

Now here's my question. If my compression numbers are okay, does that mean that my leakdown numbers will be okay too? If not, then why not?

The reason I ask is because I was told that if my compression numbers are fine, then i woudnl't have to do a leakdown test will be okay too.

TIA

If your compression numbers are okay, then your leakdown test should be good as well. If a compression test comes out good, then I wouldn't worry.

No, do both. The leakdown is testing the combustion chamber sealed, the compression is not.

Actually, the combustion chamber is 'sealed' in both tests. And a good compression test WILL mean a good leakdown test. The main purpose of a leakdown test is to find the source of leakage. But it won't reveal a cylinder sealing problem that a compression test 'can't'.
