The compression is a little high for turbo... isn't it? DId you tell Comptech that it's going to be boosted?

well, its a 9.54:1 compression according to Comptech. I don't know if the fact its a 2.0l has anything to do with it. yes, they knew it was a boosted application.

I'm so worried that I have to take the motor apart again, which at that point I give up...

well if you give up send all your parts my way...ill gladly accept them for free...sounds like you got one nice setup...displacement does effect compression...more air compressed = higher numbers...when did you start boosting the motor? right after you got it built...maybe one of your ringlands didnt seat correctly...if so youd have to pull it apart...rehone and put in a new ring set...omg you car is awesome...and btw nice gf...you gots the life....nice ride, nice girl, and one tight *** motor.....where did you get you car tuned running the hondata? ive been looking for a place around here for a freind who is soon to be boosting on his prelude...

Did you disable your fuel system when you did the comp test, if you don't it will end up raising your #'s a bit? You don't want you injectors to fire during test.

my car isn't tuned yet, the hondata is installed but not running yet (waiting to install injectors), I was planning to go to saracuse NY for my tuning (5-6hr ride) but I'm not sure if I should go now because my motor might be screwed.

thats what I want to find out, should I still go get tuned? depends on what the leak down test shows? or no either way?

I did the compression test with the FI fuse removed.

The #3 cylinder in my freshly built engine has always been about 5% lower than the others. I think one or more of the valve seats in the #3 chamber aren't perfect. It's a junkyard head.

check the valve lash clearance on #3 compared to the others

If it is too tight it wont seal

ok I did a wet test on #4 and #3 and also re-did all cylinders dry.

dry numbers:

cyl#
4 = 210 wet (1st) = 225 wet (2+3rd) = 230
3 = 185 wet (1st) = 195 wet (2+3rd) = 200
2 = 215
1 = 210

I did a wet test on cyl 4 for comparison

I can see the firt wet test cyl 4 went up 15psi then up 20psi the following times. while cyl 3 went up 10psi the first time then up 15psi after. I don't know what to make of this, can someone help me out?

also I noticed all the numbers changed from the first compression test, the second time around I ran the car up to operating temp before doing the test. caould that be the reason for slight change in dry numbers?

wow very peculair, when i did mine i got 210's across the board and it was cold...wonder if id get higher numbers if warm...only reason i could see it being better is if the rings are warm they'll expand a little and seal better and also the oil will be warm and very viscious so maybe it seals better? i dunno hope all is well!
