Compression question!
interesting, 12.5 on 92 maybe i might get 11.5 then...
anyways, since this is a "Compression" topic, i was wondering if anyone knew the compression ratio of a B20B with B16A2 head??? (stock internals)
oh *****, i just remembered i only get 91 around here, maybe 11:1 is good....

PS tuning tuning tuning...
It depends on the acceleration speed of your motor
A slow reving motor can't have alot of compression and will ping even with 9.1 compression
A fast accelerating motor can go to 11.1-12.5 compression with good tuning and never ping
Ever drive a towing vehicle and when pulling a trailer she pings and when you're not pulling anything it doesn't
Acceleration is controled by gearing

What is the highest compression I can run on 92 octane pump gas? Want to run 11:1, but think it's too high. Maybe Mike could help me.
My friend had a B16B in his 99 EK..... For the NHRA event in August he swapped it out for a stock ITR motor just to boost it... He just had it chilling in his garage forever so i guess he figured why not... He said he didn't care if it blew up... I dunno why i would. (rich people) The night before he hooked a RevHard Stage 2C turbo with a T3/T04E hybrid boosting 12psi... Ran some 440's on it with Hondata2 just for that day and he ran a 12.50@112.... Nothing special but not bad for a internally stock motor without any real tuning... With his previous CTR motor the best for the car was only a 13.3@104... Peace
Guy i talked to at JDMHONDAPARTS said he runs CTR pistons in his ITR motor with a 2 ply head gasket... 12.45 compression i think...on 91 octane...not sure how he tuned it. but he said its runnin strong. I was skeptical about factory pistons...but ive heard tooo many ppl say they were safe.

What motor?? nonVTEC or VTEC... Really it's a good thing to upgrade non VTEC rods but I know of many people around here that use stock rods with ARP rod bolts... It's a good idea to also get them shot peened as well.... My friend's CRVTEC running 84.5mm 12.0:1 JE slugs and stock rods holds up just fine... I know all together too many of you have heard me say this but his CRVTEC in his full interior EK ran a 12.62@107.... He also only revs it to 8400... it's got a Portflow head, CTR intake cam, RC 310's, ITR ECU and VAFC (also has never been on the dyno).... As long as you are staying NA you should be fine... GSR and ITR rods are stronger than nonVTEC's so I see no reason why they wouldn't hold up.... Good Luck
