Default comparing bottom ends...

im doing a head swap on my y7(stock motor) to a y8. what is the difference on the bottom end of these motors if any? do i need to worry about overall motor life when doing this swap? let it be known that i am not going for 400 at the wheel here...i just want to make it go a LITTLE bit more than it does now...like intake, header-back, and possibly a cam down the road. drop the knowledge.

I'm not positive but i'm sure there is a little change in compression.. I don't work with SOHC's much so you have to kno that i don't know that much about them... I know the pistons have a different part # so I'm sure they are different in a way... (probably just cc of dome) and I've heard that the heads have a different combustion chamber volume... I know that the Z6 and Y8 heads are different just as the PR3 head is different than the P72 in the B series world which will give the Y8 and P72 a smaller CCV raising the overall C/R... I've gotta do this same swap for my friend's car in a bit but i'm gonna be using the Z6 head on a Y7 block... My friend just smote his rings on the little SOHC using squeeze but oh well.. As for cams and stuff i really don't know.. I've put a Zex cam into a Z6 and not felt and physical difference, never seen it on the dyno.... You'll probably be fine with just a DC header or something along those lines... Like I said I always work with B series motors so I know i probably haven't helped that much but Good Luck 400whp!!! I think that would be a little hard to get out of a D series motor... But i dunno, anythings possible right....
