are the wires of the dizzy somehow connected in series with the vtec pressure switch?

p.s. my vss isnt working so i tapped my vtec solenoid wire into the ground on my pressure switch - from what i understand at the correct oil pressure vtec is supposed to kick in? it doesnt - is there another way to accomplish vtec without wiring the electronic vss? b16a1
