Default Code 9 CYP Sensor

I just had my distributor rebuilt. Now I have a CYP sensor code from the distributor. Any ideas why? I checked for resistance on this sensor and everything looks fine.

It is probably a sign of your distributor going bad, mine did the same thing, first cyp code, then tdc code, then ckp code, and then it just **** out. Since you recently had it rebuilt, I would guess they put the CYP sensor in incorrectly and the reluctor isn't firing when it is supposed to. What distributor and what year car?
good luck,
Jared

Ok, it is a 95 JDM H22 distributor. I rebuilt the distributor but my machine shop took the reluctor off and replaced the bearing. The sensor is put in correctly cuz there is really only one spot to put it. Does the reluctor only fire on Number one cylinder?

Default Try This!

Try resetting the gap between the magnetic pickup and the reluctor. The distance between the two should be as small as possible with out touching. Also make sure the surface of the pick up is clean of all debris, sometimes the magnetic pick up attracts small fragments of metal and dust from ware in the distributor bearings and cap.

I will give it a try right now. Thanks.

No I'm not using a MSD ignition box or coil...
