Code 9, CYP - cylinder sensor
My jdm h22 is throwing a code 9 (CYP cylinder sensor). It started after accelerating hard from a stop (I believe after a bit of wheel hop going into 2nd). Anyway, my distributor recently was replaced and my mechanic wired an external coil because it was too hard to find a cap for an internal coil. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but is this dangerous? Car feels exactly the same...

the CYP sensor is a sensor within the distributor that i think is magnetic and sends the signal to the ECU about where cyl 1 is.
the first thing to do is to get a multimeter and check resistance on the 4 prong. it's hard to describe, and it'd be best if you had a helms to explain it, but i'm guessing it the cute wiring of the distributor.
