Default Code 43, Possible Scenerio's...

As I'm sure most of you guys are tired of seeing all my help topics, I have yet one more. I have a 88 DX with a b18a1 with straight pipe exhaust. Just curious if this could possibly throw a code 43 because the lack of back-pressure which in turn is causing a more rich fuel mixture which then the o2 sensor picks up and thus my code???

And then the other thing...

Thought I fixed my surging idle problem. Until just the other day it started up again out of the blue. Started tinkering with things again and found the throttle cable to be a little on the loose side. Tightened the cable back up and found the the gas pedal is sticking, pulled back on it and the idle smoothed right out. Anyone EVER had anything like this happen to them? I mean this is an old car...

Just trying to get this thing straightened out before the turbo goes on this race season. Thanks in advance gents, always a big help!

buy a new throttle body gasket, and some valvoline synpower carb and throtttle body cleaner. take off your throttle body, and clean the hell out of it.

Got a new gasket when I bought a engine rebuild kit. Came with all the gaskets and o-rings. Have tried to clean the body but will check it again. Also I'm going to put some lube on the pedal see if that helps any, maybe check into a new return spring.

how did you try to clean the throttle body without using a new gasket? i'm telling you how to fix your problem. take the throttle body off, clean the hell out of it, don't forget to spray down the springs on the throttle body, clean the gasket surfaces REALLLLLLLY GOOOOD!!!!, put the throttle body back on, and adjust the throttle cable when you put it back on.
