Default Code 23- Knock Sensor P72 on B16

I have a virgin unchipped JDM p72 on a JDM b16A head/B16A2 block (Im trading for a chipped P28 w/ P30 basemap in a day or two so i prolly wont have to worry about the knock sensor code)

But, whenever i go over 45-50 MPH, the CEL comes on, and its code 23. The only thing i've done recently, is put a new distributor on, bought a timing light, and set the timing. The timing TO ME looks dead on 16 BTDC, but i could be wrong.

Question 1: Could the timing being slightly off make it throw this code? It never threw the code before I did anything with the timing

Question 2: After the CEL is thrown, i feel hesitation and bogging when starting off in first gear, i have to rev around 3K or so to start off without it feeling like its going to stall out, is this because the code is retarding the timing?

My timing is all the way advanced right now and it still doesnt look like its moving much when i change the dizzy at different angles. So basically i just have those to questions to get me on the right road.

Thanks in advance!

I guess what ima do is this

I just replaced the dizzy, and spark plug wires, and spark plugs (CHEAP spark plugs)

So ima... syphon the gas out of the tank (it set for ALONG time so it could effect it) and put some fresh 93 octane in it

Replace the spark plugs with some bosche platinum +4's

And trade my ECU for the chipped P28 w/ p30 basemap

And have someone who knows what theyre doing double check my timing job

Should run much better, and i wont have to worry about a KS code anyway with the ECU
