Default Code 1362... crank position sensor

My brother's CR-V is throwing this code. According to the Mitchell manual I looked at it's the crank position sensor and the only way to fix it is replace the distributor. Can anyone confirm this, or have any experience with this code?

Yeah, it's in the distributor. First check the wiring connection to the distributor. If you're lucky something's loose or corroded.

I've heard you can't get those sensors except to buy a distributor. But I bet you can buy a distributor with or without a coil, ICM, cap, rotor...
