Default Clutch Install Question

Hey Guys,

Real quick question, me and my buddy are installing an Action 2MS (6 puck sprung) in my 00 Si (B16A2). I got the flywheel resurfaced and torqued it down per the Helms 76 ft/lbs (tho another page says 86.6 ft/lbs, weird).

So with the flywheel torqued down its time for the clutch disk, alignment tool and then the pressure plate. My question is, there's only one way that the clutch disk goes on right? It should be the smooth side aganist the flywheel? The other side (see pic) has a kind of lip or step to it.

I wanted to be 100% this was correct? I'm 99% sure, any help is appreciated.

Thanks

yes, it will only go one way.

the other thing to note is when you put the pressure plate up against the flywheel it won't sit flush (there will be about a .25" gap)...you'll have to bolt it down and then it will sit flush.

Tweak - who broke out the drill and enlarged the PP holes to make it "fit better"

Use thread lock on the fly wheel bolts, some times they back out and then it's not pretty.

that's a nice clutch, how much did that cost you? also just to make note, I know on the stock exedy clutchs from honda, it say's flywheel side, on the clutch hub if you look at it closely. so that side is obviously the "flywheel" side.

but the way you have your's setup is correct, but I really like that clutch . I hear good things about action.. I would really like to know how much that set u back?

Yeah I used Red Locktite

Its an Action 2MS - 6 puck Sprung. I got it from Kyle at wirespeed.com. I think it was 320 or 340.

To be honest, if the flywheel bolts back out then you must have bigger problems than you thought. I've never had problems

looks like you got the clutch disc on backwards....the friction pads on the disc faces the flywheel.

Hence RED LOCTITE for insurance purposes

rofl.

The Action clutches are amazing. I bought a 1KS after my stock clutch (they are made by Exedy) exploded with only 40k miles on it

Everything looks good to me, 76 ft/lbs. is the correct spec for a stock flywheel and I too use some red Loctite...
