Default Civic - Firewall HeatShield

Just in the midst of straightening up the bay on my 02 Civic. Amongst many other reasons for pulling the motor to do this and that, i want to toothbrush the bay, make it nice and shiney.

Im just looking for feedback on the Firewall Heatshield panel. "Pros/Cons"... Good or Bad experiences to removing it from the car completely. I know ultimately its my decision and i say Its ugly... i dont like it and i dont want to put it back in the car. But ive been told "that without it the leg area in cabin will get hott". ? Is this so? I know i can get aftermarket Stick on heatshield but whats removal on that like after 5 years. Id like to leave it bare.

Yes, I did mean the engine bay one, although it will stop some heat just because it is there but it is for noise, I do not have one on my 94 Integra, never came with one. 94

Right 88-91 civics came equipped with it... 92-00 Civic and Integras did not. Why does mine?

I would be willing to bet it is a cost per unit thing more then anything else.

A car manufacturer will build a car to a price point, if dropping some noise abatement gets them to that price point, that is what they will do. 94
