Default Civic engine Q, any help please

Well I got a Civic and it had some work done on it, it had a new engine placed in it and has about 50k miles on it and I'm not sure if its a stock D16Z6 still or if the previous owner placed in a different engine. Where's the label, tag, or whatever you want to call it on the engine that says what type it is? I'm new to this so no a$$hole remarks please, I just want to figure out if the previous owner put in a different engine or not.

Also whats are some of the Pros and Cons of switching from the D16 to a B16a if I chose to do that?

Help a newby out please

There's a little flat spot on the front of the block, to the left of the header. It'll have a stamp there with the engine code. D,B,H,F is the series, the next two numbers are the factory engine displacement, and the last letter and number are a classification of that engine. For example, a D16Z6 is a D series, 1.6 liter, Z6.

Pros: B series have almost limitless aftermarket support. More power and torque. Mount kits make them a drop-in affair.

Cons: A little more expensive. A little more complex. Not much else to complain about.
