Default chipping an ecu

i want to do it myself, but am unsure of how its done. has anyone done it? pics and detailed writeups would be cool

Yeah, the library in the pgmfi is where I learned, besides asking lots of questions to various helpful people, good luck.

the easy way to do it for obd0 would be to cut the chip out using fingernail clippers or whatever small clipper oyu can find, and then unsolder the pins one by one, and solder in a socket and use a zif socket on top of that socket. use pgmfi for reference. if you are obd1 you dont have to remove a chip, just insert 2 and set a jumper wire. use pgmfi for reference. its not *that* hard. it might be good to practice on some electronics you dont care about first though.

Ah, for added height, I'd not thought about that, it's not really a problem for me to hit the switch with my zifs.

ive found the dip helps the low profile zif clear a capacitor on the obd0 boards. i havent chipped any obd1 but you probably dont need the dip socket from what it looks like to me. i would much rather have a soldered zif, but on my pm6 board there was not enough room.
