Default Checking Engine Compression

Ok, so I just bought an engine compression tester and the sales person told me I have to convert from kPa to psi. Does anyone have a formula to do this?

Do most of you just read the number on the gauge (so the conversion from kPa to psi is unnecessary) to make sure the values are consistent from one cylinder to the other or should I be looking for a 'magic' compression value for the 1st gen B16a?

If I'm running JE SRP 10.5:1 pistons, where should my compression be sitting more or less?

Thanks!

Bar - psi

Your compression numbers should be around 200+
You want consistency between all 4 cylinders.
Differences up to about 15-20 are normal.

One psi = 6.895 kPa

So 1,200 kPa would be 174psi
