Default Check Engine Light on Stock Motor?!

Hey guys, I haven't done anything to my motor yet and it WAS fine until about a couple days ago. All of a sudden I had the CEL light up and flash once quickly when my car was in aux mode. When i started it up, it just stays on continuously. Do I have to be in diagnostic mode in order to correctly confirm what code i'm throwing, or can I just tell by the flashes upon startup of the car? If i go by the latter, it should be :

1
Oxygen Sensor "A" (Primary)
defective circuit or unplugged / defective sensor

Any help on trying to fix that? Thanks guys!

You have to jump the SCS connector.

go under your glovebox and find the green rubber thing. pull out the connector that's in it and connect both holes with a wire. turn your car to ON (do not start it) and watcht he CEL.

long blinks signifies 10's digit (ie 4 long = 4X)
short blinks signifies 1's digit (ie 6 short = X6)

so 4 long,a dn then 6 short would mean 46.

think simple first, could be a routine maintenance requirement for the manufacturer to get more money. check your milage, the owner's manual should say when routine checks are required. 99 out of 100 there is nothing wrong.

That would be indicated by the maintenance light, not the CEL.
