I have a 94 gsr motor in a EG hatch with a jdm obd1 b16 ecu. My check engine comes on once the car warms up to normal operating temperature. I check and double checked the code: 23. The knock sensor. So I check the harness wiring all the way to the ecu and it looked fine. I replaced it with a new sensor thinking it was faulty and the light comes on and code 23 it is. The timing is then retarded. Can i just leave it out and wire it right up to the ecu as a bypass? Any suggestions....
your knock sensor can also be triggered by and exhaust leak or any tapping noise it "hears" it only does it when the car gets warm because the computer doesnt look for it till the cars at operating tempature and only at a certain rpm between like 3-5 k rpm...youll notice the cel light will come on at the same rpm when it starts lookign for knock
Do you have a leak at the head on the exhaust manifold flange?
You can also shut the knock off with any chipped computer or hondata

yeah, i don't have an exhaust leak but there is a lot of vibration from the exhaust at high rpms (loud as **** too). that may be the cause. I got those transducers and wired them up together to some 18 gauge wire... just have to put them in the car. thanks for the help and ill let you know if they work
