Buy a Drenol and port and polish the TB without tuching the part where the butterfly is. Change your plugs, thermostat, oil pickup pump, timing belt, break fluid, flush your cooling system, due a valve adjustment, flush your tranny fluid (if it is hydraulic). There is tons of things you can do to make your car perform better, all you need is time, lots of it.

Tighten throttle cable (not too tight though, leave it a little loose...you'll see what I mean).

And advance timing.

Both are relatively...free.

Good suggestions above, and I'll reiterate some:
Make sure throttle cable is in spec, adjust valves to the tightest gap in factory spec or even .001 tighter, Advance timing to 18, make sure you have good spark plugs etc, get a used cold air intake. It's tough to do much with $200. Just keep driving and you should get faster even with no mods to the car.

If you advance your ignition make sure you dont use anything less than the highest octane available or you will detonate. Dont mess with the throttle cable, that is so stupid, just take off the intake hose and have a friend depress your gas pedal fully and make sure the throttle plate is opening fully--if not this is when you adjust the cable. If you have ac, take the belt off, its winter you dont need it--good for a couple hp. Lighten the car up, get AAA and lose the spare and jack and sub box--bass doesnt do anything but make you tone deaf (in certain instances this can be bad--if your cars making weird noises you wont hear them dummy ) Umm, what else. Proper tire inflation, oil level in motor and trans, fresh antifreeze. Cant think of anything else. Oh and if you have the ***** do this

Are you serious? No need for backpressure?

backpressure is good for street where you need torque, but for the 1/4 you want more horsepower!

I think he meant the port/polish job. You would melt your front bumper and everything else if you fired the car with no header on there.

I know.... ok, You need some backpressure to get more torque for driveability.

BUT if you unplug the exhaust, you get a little more top end, but you lose some low end torque!

better?

A 16?!? Doesnt that have a B17 in it? As in 160 HP, yeah well my boys Saturn runs 16s, so i think you need to work on driving technique a little before you start modding your ride. Practice is key.

That's why all the fast race cars run exhaust ... er, wait a minute, no they don't. I guess they run no exhaust because it makes them slower. They probably just don't want to go too fast.

When visiting Mount Honda, be sure to explore the ancient caves of the Headerona Tribe and see the beautifull snow covered cliffs.
