hope this helps... at all?

i did get this off of an ECU chipping page... so it states that this chip is needed, but that chip is on the AT that the MT does not have

Yeah, I read about that little modification you can do to the chip, but if I remember correctly, you need to purchase something else as well to make it work.

Anyhow, yes I did that same swap and I have that same code coming up. I kept the same automatic LS ECU this entire time even with the turbo and whatnot. No problems whatsoever.

The code basically says "Something is wrong because I see the car moving, but the shift level position is in PARK." That's the only way possible because you have to have it in PARK to remove the key.

I just took out the bulb for the check engine light to pass emissions. If anything, just get a 5-speed ECU. LS ones should be cheap.

In my Hondata installation manual, it tells how to convert ECU's from automatic to manual. For the P28 ECU you remove resistor RP17 and install a jumper across RP18. It looks like the P30 is converted in the same manner. The manual is in Adobe Acrobat, and I don't know how to copy/paste it here.

i think this might be the jumper you would need to cross

for the p28 ECU but not completely sure.

In the P28 ECU, there is a space where there is no chip labeled "27C256". When the ECU is chipped, that is where the chip goes.
This is one of my ECU's that have been modded. It is an automatic ECU that has been converted to a manual. The arrow points to where the resistors are. The circled space is where RP17 was. The "x" is next to my jumper at RP18.
Edit:kind of hard to see, but if you have your ECU close at hand, you will find what you are looking for.
