Check timing, leaking wires, o2 sensor, coil, ignitor. Swap out distros to isolate the coil and ignitor. I had that same problem and i bought a new O2 sensor from groupbuycenter.com, NGK.

If you've done all that I'm leaning toward o2 sensor too.

you know what? honestly, it'll be cheaper to just take it to a dealership and have them diagnose and fix the problem than to parts-swap.

dealer - $115 to diagnose, then the cost of the part to fix the problem

parts swap - $$$ to replace the fuel filter/pump, fpr, distributor, coil, igniter, tps, map, o2, ect, iat, etc... there's just too many things that can cause those symptoms. (actually, some i listed really aren't your problem, but someone is going to, or has, suggested). unless you have a multimeter, and/or vacuum pump, scan tool to diagnose, it's not worth it to swap parts.

Here's a little something.. You said it doesn't do this when the car is cold.. So that must mean that the ECU hasn't started to adjust air/fuel ratios according to the O2 sensors..

What I would to is plug a Scan Tool into the vehicle and watch the O2 sensor and see how fast they're responding and continue diagnosing from there..

Do your revs drop when this happens? Because if not it could be your clutch slipping. The clutch on my lude is like then when I first drive it on a cold day. I will slip/catch/slip catch for alittle while. Then it is fine...maybe it is the other way around and your clutch is hot? Because it will slip when its hot too.

I had a problem like this a few months ago.. Mine was from my fuel pressure. What fuel pump and FPR are you using? Also is your fuel line to the rail modified at all?

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? I had trouble getting my fuel pressure down with a B&M FPR when I installed my Walbro 255.

Did you swap the dizzy yet? If not get another o2 in there. Or get a voltmeter and check to see if the voltage off the o2 is within specs. I did that and saw that my o2 was responing slowly. Good luck.
