That's what you want. Heat that leaches out of the header is a bad thing. BTW, you can also ceramic coating for stainless steel. Best bet is to wrap your header with header wrap and stainless steel clamps. Beware though, if you do not have a true stainless steel header, condensation may form in the header when it cools and create rust which would ultimately eat through your header.
ok thanks. ive chosen to go with DC headers. there ceramic headers are part steel and coated in ceramic.??or should i jus get stainless steel. and maybe thermal wrap them
DC Sports website even states that the ceramic headers are made with a milder grade steel. The stainless headers are made of higher quality stainless steel, and if you don't like the polished bling bling look, go for the brushed one.

I'm not questioning their steel, my header isnt broken, and i've hit many things with it
... But the coating is going.

ok thanks. lol ive heared enough bad stuff about these ceramic headers. im jus gonna go with polished stainless steel. they sound alot more efficient and durable. plus my car isnt lowered so i should be ok with ground clearance. anyone know the AVerage hp gains?
I have a new dc 4-1 ceramic header. I like the look and ground clearance isn't bad unless your car is slammed. It holds up good, but I have seen one that is a few years old and the ceramic coating looks nasty. Never seen em rust though. The thing holds in heat great. You can damn near touch it with the car at temp.

I used this little temp gun reader at my friends shop and my header was about 100 degress colder then my cat... made me love the ceramic

Yes. There are a number of coating service companies like Swain Tech (sp?) who do ceramic coating as well as other types of coatings.
