It's for the O2 sensor.

Did this code come up shortly after installing the turbo kit?

Maybe you should check & rule out any bad/loose/broken wiring before spending on another sensor.

When you installed the generic O2 sensor, did you have to splice into the existing engine harness?

Did you have instructions to go by? Who actually made that O2 sensor? What wire colors does it have and to what wires did you connect them to?

this was done about 6 months ago... and i had my buddy do it at his garage.. so i dont know all the details... but im just gonna get a new O2 and see if that works... but if it dosent could it be anything else? we are talking about the primary o2 and not the secondary one correct?

Yes, P1167 is for the 1st, or primary O2 sensor.

Give me a timeline real quick: You install the turbo kit and leave the original O2 sensor in there? You put about 'x' miles on it and you begin to get the O2 code? To solve it, your friend splices in a generic O2 and now 6 months later (how many miles) you've got the same code again??

In the 6 months you've had it installed, how many MILES have you put on it? When your friend did the install, did he just chop off the connector from your old O2 sensor and graft onto the generic O2 sensor or did he actually clip off the engine side O2 connector and spliced directly to those wires?

But like Jim said - verify your wiring (especially since things have been spliced) before you go and throw expensive parts at it.

timeline

installed turbo kit and about 3000 to 5000 the cel comes on, then my buddy throws in the new o2 sensor the cel comes back on within a week and has been on ever since, i just havent really tried to fix it because the car runs great, but now that i have to go to emissions i really have to get it fixed!!!! im gonna have to really look at the wiring and see whats going on because it seems that this or things related to this is what is throwing the code... thanks guys for all the help once i take a better look i will bring this back to life

it just looks like a whole lot of trouble shooting to narrow down what is causing this to occur

also my primary O2 sensor is right by my manifold, do you think the heat from the manifold could be destroying my O2 sensors? should i relocate it further down my downpipe like before my cat?

what do you guys think? cause when i clear my codes all i do is leave the car running (i dont drive i just leave it running) for about 10 minutes and it comes right back on

If the O2 sensor is expossed to EGTs over 850 degrees f then it will damage the sensor. The sensor is not designed for tempertures higher then that.

Your best bet is to relocate the Primary O2 as far down the downpipe as possible. Preferably between the 9-3 o'clock positions and about 3 inches in front of your cat.
