CEL flashes during driving!?
I just through on a Mugen p28 ecu along with an obd2-obd1 harness and everything seems to function correctly except that there's the annoying CEL that keeps flashing "8" times and then pauses then again everytime I drive the car. My jumper is not even connected to check codes. What could be the problem??

have had any mods done to your motor at all, camshaft or cranktiming wise? if not, I bet the ECU jumper is at fault.
Who makes the ECU jumper you have?

Yeah, I'm running crower 63402's with my ignition timing retarded way back since my head was milled way past its limit mark.
The jumper on the ecu was just a wire being soldered into J1 location in a p28 ecu. I don't think it's the jumper because if it's not appropriately connected, then the chip would not take effect right?--the vtec engagement and everything works, except that code flashes all day long.

Oh sorry Katman, I made the jumper myself from Hx Guy's pinouts list. What wire do you think I left out or twisted??
Thanks for the replies Katman.

i have no idea....
its' hard to diagnose your problem over the internet. I'd have to see the wiring in person.

depending on what code its throwing, its safe to assume you're in safe mode. Usually when the check engine light comes on ...that's a red ***..err flag for safe mode.
