well heres my situation...i have a 89 crx si...tonight in jersey it snowing bit out and was driving around a lil and stopped at a cvs for 10 minutes...when i get back in my car i go to start it and it starts, then dies...i start it again and it dies on me again...i try to start it again and it just cranks for a bit, then i just let the car sit for 30 secs and then it started right up...seemed to run fine for the moment.
then i head over to shop rite for 10 minutes to pick some stuff up and the car starts back up like normal but as i leave the parking lot my tires start to spin and i hit a few dry spots causing some wheel hop then i get a CEL
i tried resetting the ecu but im still getting a CEl
didnt get a chance to check what code im throwing...im guessing i just have to pull up the carpet and look on the ecu...
but what do you guys think might be throwing the cel...im not sure if it would be the ignition or something...car seems to be running fine...dont notice anything abnormal...everything in the enginebay looks to be connected...
i'll try checking the ecu in the morning, but in the mean time do you guys have any suggestions?

 

ok does anyone know what CEL 9 is?

 

Code 9 is Cylinder Position Sensor. Sounds like their is a problem with your dizzy. It sounds a lot like the ignitor. Not sure if that would through a code 9 though.

 

well when i get home i'll check out the distributor to see if maybe i shook a wire loose or something...
my car does seem to have a lil hesitation in throttle response...
not sure if it would be the ignitor...in my integra i had the ignitor go and when that happend i noticed my tach jumping like crazy so i dont think that would be a problem...
any1 else know what might cause this or how to fix it

 

on the fourth gen hatches and crxs there is a factory recall on the ignitor, also there is a problem with the distributors, they tend to go out. mine went out and started on fire. my car use to hesitate when i stepped on the throttle but now it just goes,(did mpfi swap).

 

ok well i took the dist. cap off and the cap and rotor need to be replaced...they look pretty bad...everything else looks fine...can the cap and rotor throw a code 9?
