Default CEL code 15. Help!

Hey all. I checked on the hybridgarage.com site and it says that a code 15 is for "Ignition Output Signal - missing or defective ignition output signal". Has anybody ever gotten this? The night before I got this code, the car was running fine. Then when I started up the car the next day, it was cold-idling really rough (with the Check Engine Light on) at 1,000 for a few seconds then jumped up to 2,500rpm, then down to 300rpm, then dead. I then re-set the ecu and tried it again... same thing happened.

Here's my setup:
'89 CRX dx
'99 d16y8 vtec motor
'89 Integra ecu
Field's vtec controller

I appreciate any help you can give me.

Thanks!

either a bad coil or ignitor, test both.

I switched out the ignitor also new cap, rotor, wires and plugs. Still same problem.

Any other ideas?

Hmm, ok. I think I've ruled out the ignitor since I switched that out. So if it's the coil, I should try a whole new distributor, right? Man, y does it always have to be the expensive parts! hehehe

I replaced a connector for the positive wire coming from the ignitor and taped up a couple of the wires since they were frayed. I put it all back together, reset the ecu, and the same problem was happening.

It was still cold-idling at 1,000 really roughly like it was misfiring then shot up to 2,500rpm then died.

BUT this time the CEL code was 5 which is MAP sensor. WTF?!?! This car is driving me nuts.

Any ideas?
