Default Carbs on a b16?

my father is an old school car guy and he thinks that you can put webers on a b16 that he is building for his hatchback. im not doubting him that it cant be done but i just have a few questions. how would vtec be activated? and how would the timing be controlled with other then adjustable gears? and if it is all possible, would it make power?

thanks guys

IT IS VERY POSSIBLE. AS FAR AS MAKING POWER, IF TUNED CORRECTLY THEN THE ANSWER IS YES. NOW VTEC INGAGEMENT IS WERE PREFFERENCE BECOMES THE ARGUEMENT. THESE ARE THE MOST COMMON;\
RUNNING IT OFF OF A MANUAL SWITH(IE. TOGGLE)
RUNNING IT OFF OF A RPM ACTIVATED SWITCH
OR SIMPLY LOCKING UP THE VTEC.

yea... my father is a determined guy. lol he hasnt bought them yet, but hes really thinking about it. he said at dinner that he wanted to use the msd rpm switch like flowzilla stated earlier. and he also said the conversion in general would be a bitch becuase he did it before in his at the time custom turbocharged 1972 alfa romeo gtv back in, i think 1991. i guess i got to start looking for carb conversions for a b16.

has anyone ever seen something like this? if you did, send me pics, i want to see this lol

he's better off with ITB's i work with alot of old school 4-AG guys, and they all prefer ITB's. they are already proven as well for a B16

i work with alot of 4ag guys too and its not that they preffer itb its that they tried carbs and the cars didnt respond well to them but when there is a will there is a way and what we do now is convert the carbs to run a vaccum advance and now those things rip.. another reason the 4ag guy run itbs is because they look better becaus eyour tipical toyota guy tend to run carbs on every thing
