Default Carb tuning

got an 88 accord with the carb and am having problems. about a month ago, after it warmed up, it would idle very low and die. I checked all vaccum lines and fuel pressure, sprayed carb cleaner in throttle. After goofing with it for 20 min it just started to work right... this morning, it did it again. runs fine if you advance the throttle but not at idle. Is there anywhere good to start on this carb??? what parts do I look at that would affect the idle??? it acts like the mixture screw is backed out. I could up the idle, but I want to FIX the problem and not cover it up. fuel pressure, vaccum readings(when idle is held at normal), float level all seem to be good.

thermostatic choke or electric choke could be bad...and you did make sure none of the linkages are bent? I forgot is it a feedback type carb or not?. PPP
Been sooooooooooooooooo loooooooooooongggg. With such an old carb I'd just rebuild it. You couldn't find any carbuerator rebuild kits available? Hard to tell with out actually looking at it.

the choke and all linkage looks and works fine. the only thing is the idle dosen't go up when the A/C is turned on(either adjustment or diaphram). I just was trying to find out if any of the 5,000 vaccum lines/modules/switches might be causing the problem. I don't think a rebuild is needed, it is more than float level and a new needle and seat.

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas to get me in the right direction before I make a mess of the vaccum lines.

replace the fuel filter. it could be clogged. hook up a vacume gauge and see what its at.

Yea well, the car is perfect other than this and came at the right price.
The carburator, it is like a throttle body, but better. You use it on your BIG motor when the injectors can't handle it. The mysterious carb will add more gas to the system to help out the computer and to give that HP boost. Right???

I know. I was just kidding about that. Its just very old technology and all. About the fuel injection not being able to handle high horsepower. HAH! It sounds like your an old V8 enthusiast (spelling?) On top fuel dragsters they use fuel injection and if im not mistaken i believe they are using direct port injection now. (50 million times better than fuel injection.) So your hypothesis is wrong my friend, carbuerators are inferior to PROPERLY TUNED fuel injection.
