Default car won't start/timing issues maybe?

Recently done a Mini-me (Z6/B7) with Auto/manual swap on a 92 Honda Civic. Transmission swap was fine, but head swap is giving me some problems. I believe it is timing.

Here's what has been done: I have a VX timing belt, Y7 cam gear to correct timing. I also got new spark plugs/wires. I replaced starter even though there was nothing wrong.

The dizzy's position may be off. I don't know if the bolts bolt up closer/further/in the middle. Also, my firing order might be off, searching right now to see if it's right.

Details: When I try to crank it, all I hear is the starter whining (I think). I double checked my grounds but about to triple check. Any suggestions?

(Posted in Civic forums too; I need this thing running soon.)

We did correct timing. But for some reason still won't start. Checked the grounds, the neutral lock is fine, the dizzy position should be fine. My battery died so I gotta charge it up over night again.
Question though, say if TDC was off by less than a tooth; would that prevent start up? Because it would be ever so close and NOTHING is heard except the starter. I figured it would run or start, but very poor-like.

Well I'm just going to put the B7 head back on. What we really need is a timing light to really make sure.

It's getting fuel, it's getting spark, it has compression. The grounds are there, the starter is fine... We tried timing it but even though it seemed correct (without timing light), there would be absolutely nothing. Not even a smidge of life but a backfire and whining of the starter.

I'm going to put the old head on just so I can drive something. I'm worried about the oil jet thing we pulled out though. but we're going to try and get a timing light as our last resort before putting the old head back on.

YEAH that sounds like a good suggestion. how much did you money did it cost you to put a minime swap? the reason why i ask is you could have probably found a complete ls swap or went w/ a b20 if you spent like a 1g. just MOP.

The head work was done at a well known local head shop. New valve seats, couple new valves; good stuff. I probably WILL check on that though before I swap out the head for the crummy one.

I spent $500 (but new parts like timing belt, etc) into it. I feel like it wasn't worth it. I could have gotten a complete Z6 swap for less than that. OR, like you said, gotten what I really wanted - LS swap.

Either way, I'm not going to put more money in this car. After it's fixed, I'm driving it till I get enough for a new car.
