Default Car won't start, Battery or Starter problem?

okay. my brother has a 91 integra and it won't start. The dash/interior and head lights light up fine(Battery seems to be okay), but theres no"click" sound and the car won't turn over when I turn the ignition. I just check the connection and theres no acid build on the battery terminals. what can be causing the car not to start?

It is highly likely to be your battery or your starter. First of all get your battery load tested at a garage where they have the equipment to do so. They will check how many amps your battery can supply. Your starter requires probably around 250 to 300 amps. If your battery can only supply 200 amps then it won't be able to power the starter, but it will be able to supply power to your interior lights (which only require 0.5 amps).

If that's not the problem you should pull the starter out of the transmission housing and bench test it. This means to directly connect power to the two connections on the starter. (Don't forget to ground the starter on its own casing) Make sure to hold the starter down when you do this... the starter has a quite a bit of torque... use your foot to hold it down.

If that doesn't solve the problem, then you may have a problem with a relay, clutch switch (manual tranny car), or ignition switch. Hope this helps, good luck figuring it out.
