i have a y1 tranny every gear goes in great but it wont go in reverse???
it will go in somtimes if i hold the rpm's @ 3,500 and foce it in..... no scraching or grinding noises.... i dont know what the problem is? i used 2 1/2 - 3 quarts of honda tranny fluid.... please help..........

 

no grinding noise when you do that? that's actually bad if you don't hear that noise if you're doing that. Looks like your gate has a problem opening.

 

Try to put it into 1st gear before u put it into reverse, see if that works

 

sounds like a bad synchro to me

 

first, thats WAY too much tranny fluid.

there is a filler plug behind (firewall side) the passenger side axle, put a pan under it and remove the bolt. all excess fluid will drain out.

but sounds like something is fucked inside the transmission.

 

speakin of goin in reverse, it took me 8 tries to put it into reverse today. gotta a little scared. i forgot about the syncro, good call

 

Reverse doesn't have a synchro. At least the 90-93 transmissions don't.
