Default Car revvs from 6000-7500 in like 1/4 second WTF?

ok, i jsut had a TON of motorwork done to my car, i finished breaking it in and now when i redline it (starting at about 6000 it revs to 7500 before i even have time to shift, it almost feels like a super VTEC, except my Car is an LS?

my engine mods are following

-ITR pistons
-slightly milled head
-Venom intake mani.
-AEM CAI
-280cc injectors
-AEM fuel rail
-Port/polish
-new valves
-valve seat job
-fluydline radiator
-big bore TB
-Crower Titanium retianers
-Crower dual valve springs
-ACT stage 1 clutch
-ITR FPR
-Greddy header

yes, because it almost seems like im getting no power out of it, since it revs SO fast in that RPM range. Strange.

huh? Dont have any clue what is wrong. So, is your car alot faster after you did the build up compaired to stock? was it worth it?

Sounds like a slipping clutch...if you're making way more power than what you were before all the engine work, then you're probably just overwhelming it. You'll need a stronger holding clutch to harness your new-found glory.

Yeah, it sounds like a dying clutch.

clutch is exaclty 1 week (1300) miles old. Sopposed to hold the power, its a better clutch, i forget what brand.
This combined with my axle/CV boot or something clicking, and my steering slack is REALLY testing my patience.

All these problems are REALLY pushing it. A 00' ITR is looking REAL tempting right now.

the way that your cams are dialed in could have an affect on the way your car is revving. depending on how u adjust your cams u can have the rpm range down low or up high. if u have adjustable cam gears i would try and get to a dyno and get everything tuned. somehow i don't think it is your clutch, but a slipping clutch could do something kinda like u are describing. there is a kid around here that has a built ls w/ pretty much the same setup as yours he hasn't taken it to the track yet but he has beaten a few 13 second cars, don't give up its just tuning.

When my engine was rebuilt I just jacked up the front brought it up to speed keeping RPM's at 3000 and then set the cruise control....left it there spinning and ocasionally got up out of the lawn chair to see where the gas tank was....when it got low drove to the gas station filled it up the jacked it up again....saved me from actually having to drive the miles And also kept me from getting the itch to rev the hell out of it.

Oh, Teg, it's the clutch letting go. Easy way to tell, but the car in neutral rev it if it reacts the same....clutch isn't strong enough or was improperly installed.

Please tell me that you didn't do that...you need to vary the rpm's to properly seal the rings, and it is good to have a load on the engine while you are doing it...I'd worry about the longevity and the sealing quality of your rings if I were you.

Good choice - modding the **** out of an LS is a big money pit.

Or just turbo your LS.

I think my clutch is not alighned properly. This would account for my high RPM jumping, and the clicking noise. Im going to get this looked at tommrow. BTW about the ITR. I found 2 98 ITR's for 15-16,000 locally, less than 25,000 miles on them. IM 19, but my parents STILL wont let me sell my car and buy one

Yup, I did it......oh well it was the D16 anyway......I don't plan on keeping that engine for long.

I am actually thinking of putting a little Greddy turbo on my now fully built LS, that should result in some great power.

Well, except the insurance on an ITR is far more than an LS. It adds up quick.

You probably dont want to turbo that thing with high compression pistons...

just a thought.

well its lower compression than an ITR, longer stroke, same pistons. Maybe if I just run a real low boost with a standalone to make sure I dont run into problems? Or would a supercharger do me good?
