My buddy has a prelude. He said when he gets on it that as soon as vtec kicks in the vtec get twice as loud but the car doesnt go any faster. just stays at the same speed. he changed his oil and still is doing it. any suggestions

 

Did he adjust the fuel pressure or distributor? Stock ECU?

 

ok i kust talk with him. He sais he was driving three days ago and noticed the vtec getting louder and louder each time it hit. Know when it hit vtec is jsut get loud, RPM go up but the car doesnt spped up much. Hasn't touched disor fule stcok ecu

 

I've seen this type of thing a few times before...

One time the timing was off... Check the timing belt and distributor...

Another time the distributor was going out and it was starting to break up after vtec...

Another time the IABs were not opening and it was restricting airflow...

You may want to also check the plugs and plug wires... Just for fun... Maybe try replacing them...
