Can't get my Eagle rod bolts out...

Can't get my Eagle rod bolts out...
They are brand new from Eagle. I am trying to install them to measure the bearing clearances, but the bolts are in there so f'in tight.
Is it ok to clamp the big end of the rod in a vice (between two blocks of wood) and bust the bolts loose this way? I currently do not have a vice, but my neighbor does. I do have air tools though, but I figured that using them for this purpose would not be a good idea.

wrap the rod in a rag and put the big end in the vise loosely
then break the bolts loose. makes you wonder how they put them on eh?

You would think that they would only be in there finger tight since they stretch each time you tighten them. My set came with a worksheet for measuring the bolt length each time it comes out so that you'll know when to toss them. Seems like a waste to tighten them once before you even get it onto the crank!

They need to torque them to resize the rods

mine were like that too!
i put mine in a vise with rubber around it to protect them and they came out no problem. then i torqued them to spec once in the car. My arp headstuds i actually torqued/loosened and retorqued 3 times as recommended to me by my machinist.
