camshaft question!!!
when looking at the specs for different camshafts, what does gross lift or duaration exactly mean? (does the higher the duration mean more hp and the higher the lift = more torque).
Lift refers to the amount of lift the valves. Its measured in millimeteres.
Duration refers to the amount of time the valves spend open. Its measured in degrees of crankshaft rotation.
Generally, higher light, longer duration makes more power because more air cam flow past the valve.

The highest point of lift
Duration refers to the amount of time the valves spend open. Its measured in degrees of crankshaft rotation.
Durantion refers to the amount of degrees on the cam shaft there is some sort of lift. I.E. 272 degree cams means that for 272 degrees around the 360 degrees of the camshaft there is some sort of lobe
