he was running prototype cams .... they had to much lift and were hitting the valve guides. the company is called LSM Motorsports, they are located in waterford ,MI. They said they would work with no problems and they didn't ... caused him to drop a valve ruining his motor that had 1000 miles on. SO PEOPLE BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY BECAUSE THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!!! DO NOT RUN THESE CAMS, THEY WILL $%@* UP YOUR MOTOR!!!! switched to Jun 3's but to late had slightly bent valves do to retainers hitting valve guides From LSM cams(loosing compresion and not letting valves move like they should). But still made 190HP at 8900 on 4th pull on dyno. Didn't even get to tune for power yet ... we were getting the air/fuel ready to right. Timning was set to around stock. everything was pretty much like stock nothing advanced or retarded. Anyone got any feedback on supertech valves? that is what valves he was running!!! i think it could have been cabable of 220-235 to the wheels, if it wasn't for the cams he had in ifroma LSM!!!!
So he installed cams without checking clearances, another parts slapper bites a big one.
Anyone remember Crower issues with Jun valvetrain?
Learn to check motor/valvetrain clearances BEFORE firing motor.
Slapping parts is easy, know how to tune them is the key to divineness.

LSM are the ones who checked for clearance issues and said there were none .... and this is supposed to be a shop who makes alot of **** for IRL cars

well we know that now .... they said they did all that stuff!!! only reason valve hit pistons is from the retainer smashing the top of the valve guides
The retainers hitting the guides would not cause the valve to hit the piston, as that would happen at over 100 degrees before or after TDC,depending on in. or ex. The valves would only hit the pistons during overlap and at less than .200 lift. Did the retainers come with the cams? Did they check the clearance on his head?
yes it could cause the valves to hit pistons. for example .... what happens to the end of a punch after you hit it with a hammer for a period of time .... it mushrooms!! same thing happens to the valve guide. and that don't let the valve move as freely as it needs to
