Default A/C gets warm when rpm's are low. what's the problem. the compressor?

my a/c works when i'm driving or when theres a load on the motor.
once i put it in neutral it gets warm. its still blowing some cool air out but but hardly enough to keep me cool.

if im in neutral and i rev to 3k itll blow a lil cooler then it would at idle but not as cool if i were actually driving.

whats wrong with it? is it my a/c compressor itself. or the other parts like the clutch or the expansion valve or what?

i just wanna know what it is before i go off buying stuff i dont need.

i need to get this fixed quick. its already getting warm in houston.

You may not have enough refrigerant in the system. Get it recharged and see if that helps. Have them put in the dye so if it gets warm again you can check for leaks.

Is the belt loose? What were your final pressures after you topped it off? Maybe non-condensables in the system.
If your compressor was bad it wouldn't cool at all. Did you notice higher than normal suction pressure and lower than normal discharge pressure? If you did the valves in the compressor are going out.

i havent checked the discharge or suction pressure, but i checked the after i put 2 cans in. and it was normal.

i figured if the compressor was bad it should cool at all. i believe my belts are tight. not squeaking or anything

you realize that too much refrigerant can make temps warmer than they should be, right?
