Default Weid AC problem

So i just put in a new compressor and new freon and everything, and it works like fine at idle (arond 50 or 55 degrees). once i drive it or just let it sit at 1500 rpms it cycles fequently and is no longer cold air (about 65 degrees). however when i have a gauge set on it, and its hooked up to the high side then it will run just fine. does this sound anything like a clogged evaporator or a bad expansion valve? has anyone else had this problem?

well considering that the expansion valve regulates the rate of flow of refrigerant into the evaporator i would imagine that would be your problem...i would think if the ecaporator was glogged than you wouldnt have colr air at all idle or not

alright... thats what i figured, i guess im gonna have to drain the freon for the second time and fill it, hopefully this will fix it.

you probably put too much refridgerant in it because at high compressor speeds the freon does not have enough time to change phase from saturated liquid to gas. Thats why it worked at low speeds.

i dont think i did, because i put too much in to begin with then i took enough out. it was at about 38 or so, so it should be good. im gonna try this expansion valve and then only put in 24 oz of freon.
