Default A/C compressor problem/question

Hello,
I have a 2000 civic and the a/c compressor has been making a wierd squeching noise. I know its the a/c compressor because I took off the a/c belt and the noise was gone. I was wondering if I have to change the whole a/c compressor unit or can the compressor be taken apart and fixed? I don't know what's wrong with it so I could really use some help here. The a/c work fine, and the noise didn't change when I turned the a/c on. The pully turns freely and I didn't notice any play. I did do a search but didn't find a answer. Thanks.

Probably best just replacing the compressor, shouldn't be too expensive to get one from schuck's or car quest or Oem from hondaautomotiveparts.com or slhondaparts.com.

you can just change the clutch on the compressor you don't have to buy a new compressor

Does that AC belt have an idler pulley like on B-engines? First check to see whether it's that idler making the noise...

Yes it does. Today it finally froze up, and I had to just cut the belt off. Would a bad clutch freeze up or is it something internal (bearing, piston etc..)?

Did the compressor pulley seize up or the idler pulley?
