bunch of lil questions
so i recently scored a 99 civic ex coupe auto with 68k miles on it.
1)when doing the trans fluid, the plug has a magnetic tip and there was a good amount of gunk on there, as i wiped it off i noticed it was shavings, but so fine that it looks like mud. is this common? ok, i found this out, its common that you will have metal shavings on the drain plug.
2)idle fluctuates from 700 rpm for 3 seconds to 800 for 3 second, back and forth. on the d16y8, is the iacv under or on the back side of the mani. i thought it was under, there was 2 bolts closest to the throttle, 8mm i believe. both were at the tip of the throttle (im thinking its not the iacv) well i started to remove one of the bolts and it snapped, very little pressure to snap it. what did i break? and is it a big deal? i didnt touch the other bolt, i just left it.
3)where is the iacv on a d16y8?
4) why is it when you take apart the interior dash, you always have a screw or 2 that you forgot where it went?
thanks all

the Y8 auto has the IACV under the throttle body and it's a 3-pin like the Y7. you need to replace the broken bolt and set, or check the timing/base idle.
as for your last question, practice helps and so does a good shop manual.
