Default Built b18b having sputtering problems

Well a friend of mine just picked up a built, top to bottom b18b. Its got J.E 8:5.1 cp pistons, eagle rods, built JG head and so on and unfortunatly an AFC hack on it running stock injectors with an aeromotive FPR and a walbro 255.

So heres the problem, when we first got the car it ran perfectly fine and smooth. The other day i took it for a ride and once it was at full opperating temperatue i tried to give it a WOT pull in first but once it got to like 4500ish RPM's it started to sputter and not want to rev past that, also the car was a little low on fuel but nothing below like 2 gallons.

We just did a compression test on the motor like a day before it happened and it red 120,100,100,120. The results kinda worried me a little bit, but i still plan on doing a leak down test.

We planned to boost the motor soon but need to resolve this problem first. I have taken the responsibility to build this car for him because he is kinda new to boost and so on.

The only thing that has changed since the compression test and the day we bought it was that he put a system in the car, now i wasnt present for the install due to being out of town but i cant really think off what inside the car he could have done wrong, i need to figure this out and get as many opinions as possible becasue we are going to hopefull have the car boosted by next week.

TIA

Low numbers all the way across mean that the headgasket is shot and/or the rings if their new maybe they haven't seated.

Well the rings have over 5,00 miles on them so i think they have seated by now, but as far as the low numbers thats not what i am worried abou as of this time, the sputtering worries me more than anything. Thanks though

Any other ideas

Wires are ok, the plugs were just changed to NGK bkr7E's, i believe the gap is at .28-.30
