Default building ls/vtec

i am building a lsvtec . i dont want crazy power just more than i have and some torque oh much needed torque i have a 98 civic ex. what i am useing is a b18b block to start with with all stock internals should i swap these out for aftermarket or use internals from another b series engin or just leave the stock internals ? all i want is 150-200 hp max , if i use pistons and rods from another bseries engin do i have to bore or are the bore and stroke the same the same if i should use aftermarket what should i use or is i use from another b sweries what should i use. then comes the head i have the b18b head but i want v tec so should i go with a b16 or a b18. i have done a bit of research and i am not sure about the machining on the head or the block or can i skip this if i buy a ls vtec kit such as (golden eagle) and last i need a tranny i have a ls tranny but frome what i understand they are junk and i need a hydro tranny what tranny would be best for this setup. thanks for who ever helps me out

to correct you...when using a gsr crank and rods...you are not building an ls/vtec...your are building a gsr in a ls casting....the reason why people use ls's is because it has a longer stroke from the crank...now by swtichin this for a gsr crank etc...you complete eliminating the longer stroke....you might as well have just bought a gsr shortblock and had some nice oil squirters and girdle...and you have an obd2 chipped ecu...i kinda find that hard to believe....get an obd1 and run uber or crome for engine management....

the classifieds are you friend...do research on sellers to make sure they arent scammers or visit the retailers on HT...they are all great and willin to help you get rolling

boring is not necessary, unless you have any scarring or nicks on the cylinder walls. a machine shop can determine this if you are unsure.

if you decide on stronger rods, check my sig...

resizing the rods is needed when upgrading rod bolts.
the higher torque setting of aftermarket rod bolts will make the rod end ''egg'' shape

the rod ends of the ls where the meet the pistons...are larger than what the b16 piston can accomedate....1mm needs to be shaved off on each side of the rod...any machine shop should easily be able to do this....i also recomend shot peening the rods...
