I know this has been asked before...but I want some new answers. I currently have an LS teg (stock internals) with a turbo. Pulls great at 8 psi and is putting down over 200 whp. I am going to buy a complete B16A for a great price. Should I re-sell the motor and make money from it or put it in my car?
I love the pull in my B18B, but should I put the (stock internals also) B16 in? It was purchased from the other owner by hmotorsonline.
Any help would be appreciated. Either way, I am going to put a 3mm headgasket on either motor to lower the compression some more. Help a fellow honda man out!!

put the head on your ls and be done with it.

I thought about doing the ls/vtec, but I have one of the motors sold either way. I would use the tranny, but it is the cable tranny. I will have to use my ls tranny.
My biggest thing about using the b16 is that the torque won't be there like I have in the LS, unless I run more boost on the B16.

you will probably like the out of boost driving more with what you have because the b16 wont have any torque untill you hit boost which if you have a DD then you dont want to have to hit boost to keep up with traffic lol...all in all the final outcome or max hp or speed will be about the same...buy it and sell it make a little money then upgrade what you got...just an opinion take it as you please

Keep the LS.

I loved my old LST, and I'm going to like my current project...LST.

I personally would never use a b16 block for anything.

Do the LSvtec-T.

Then make some little 1.6L LS, and attempt to sell that.

A b20 has 8.8:1 CR, maybe thats where he got it from :D

B18B has no oil injectors under the pistons i belive, so i would stay with b16A or B18C

So from what I am gathering, just stay with the B18B and sell the B16? So I should sell the B16 for more money than what I am paying for it and then dump that into the B18B and get some rods/pistoons/and head work?? Thanks everyone

why would you base your decision on oil squirters lol a lot of people even remove them although i like the b18c but thats not one of the options.

By DD i meant daily driver... trust me it sucks having no torque while out of boost i drive a d16 turbo i have to hit boost to keep up with traffic lol i would think it would help your gas mileage too..the b16 probably has a LITTLE more potential but i think the difference is so minimal that it wouldnt be worth swaping the motors and since you are getting a killer deal you could use the profit to buy forged internals then the stock b16 wouldnt stand a chance basically in my opinion the out come will be pretty similair with either motor but you will lose low end power with the b16

I knew as soon as you said what dd was, I was going to say the famous Homer Simpson line!! haha!! You are saying exactly what I was thinking about. I know there wouldn't really be any torque unless I was in boost. I just wanted some other thoughts to confirm my thinking. I could keep it and drop it in a cheap crx/or ef hatch. The motor is coming with HAsport mounts to swap into an EF civic. It is a complete swap into an EF, the price that it is would almost be to good to pass up.
It is one of those deals where the guy just wants to part everything out and letting it go for a steal of a price. I am getting 2 ecu's, axles, mounts, complete motor, S1 tranny, and a couple other little odds n ends. I am going to pick it up Saturday.

this is exactly what i would do. pistons rods and some turbo cams.

its all about preference i was just giving an opinion because i would rather have the torque......UNLESS he plans o nbeing at the track a whole bunch

I understand I repsect your opinion as well as others , I just thought ppl should read it from a respected company like IB so we don't have arguements over which is better LS or B16.

yeah no arguements the b16 is a better motor but you just have to put it all into perspective

damn all you guys wanting this low end torque... just get a chevy v8 and be done with it.

there's 0.2L difference between the b16 and 18, my b16 is bored to a 1.7L... is there really that much difference in low end??

have you never looked at dyno graphs of the two...if i could afford the insurance and gas for a v8 i prolly would buy one...but for now i drive a 1.6l single cam..the ls also has a stroke that shifts the powerband down (compared to the gsr and si motors) if i am not mistaken ..again its a matter of preference torque is good for daily driving but not so good for r acing if you have no traction

This article is only talking in terms of street cars. . . which this thread applies to, however I don't see to much actual information in that article other than opinions and he said/she said.

I am just thinking about keep the b18 in. Maybe I will just buy a crx or hatchback and drop this motor in it. It would be fun in there. I will have a turbo car and an all motor.
