Broken Lug Studs on a GS-R
Best way to replace? I assume remove rotor, caliper, caliper braket, and pound out the stud, and pound in a new one?
Also, how do you get those annoying phillips head screws off the rotor if they're rusted on? The screws themselves arent rusted but they're stuck in there pretty well. Thanks!

you need an impact driver to get the screws out. i think i got mine for 15 bucks at the local parts store. once you use the impact driver, it will be easy from there.
drill those fawkin pain in the **** screws right out.
no need for them.
they are good during assembly at the honda plant so the rotors dont fall off and clobber a worker in the head
otherwise a pita.

I tried pounding them out studs before...there is something (the hub?)right behind the studs that block the way. Well, at least on a 91 integra
all you have to do to R&R a wheel stud is to; remove the caliper, get a Big *** Hammer and pound it out. To install, put the new wheel stud through the back, thread the new lug nut or a (12x1.5mm nut) on, and use an impact gun to pull the stud through til it stops.
owen_the_soyboy, you are incorrect. Those screws actually help center the rotor. If you remove them you will have an unbalanced ride (not much, but its noticeable).
If you have to drill them out, your gonna need some damn good drill bits. Those screws are made out of hardened steel. Also, sometimes the impact driver bit heads will break off -in- the screw. Those things are the hardes part about changing rotors if they decide to **** with you. What i did is take an air cutoff tool, and cut a new slot right into the screw head. Course the rotor is gonna get cut into as well, but it doesnt matter all that much. Good luck, and make sure to replace them if you end up hacking them up. they are only like a $1 at honda.
