Default Bolt-in or Weld-in? Any ideas?

Whats going on everybody so here's the dilemma i'm having... I've been tinkering around with my EG and i think its time for a roll cage just because i can build it if i really wanted to... and i really want to... I've looked around and talked with some of my other tuner friends and nobody seems to know which would be better. so my overall question is should i build a bolt-in roll cage or should i just weld the main hoop in and build the rest around it and weld it all in?

Well it depends on your applications. If just street driving and your not going faster than 11.99 (dont quote me for sure) in 1/4 then there is zero need to add a cage. All you will do is add weight that will make your slower. But if your car will see ANY real road racing then do a weld in only. Bolt in cages are garrbage. Would you feel comfortable trusting your life to a few bolts? I know i sure as hell would not.

this.

nhra and all that have their own requirements for weld-ins.

some places won't let you run a bolt in or an improperly secured weld in (even if your car is meant to run slower than requiring a cage.) at all

just be sure to promise us that you'll weld in a plate and won't just weld a tube to the flimsy-*** floor, putting yourself in even greater danger than you were without any cage.

after rereading the question i realize i got the question worded wrong wouldnt it be cost efficient to buy a bolt in and weld it in or to build the whole thing. the whole reason im asking is just cause i drive like a maniac just trying to make my wife feel "secure"

Well not to sound like a a@@hole but i dont think a cage/ what have you will save your wife from you driving douche. If you truely care enough to pose this this as a question then maybe stop and think about your actions and would could be end result.

So, how exactly is putting metal bars even closer to her than the existing space frame going to increase her safety?

over all im looking to build a car the will do 10 seconds in the quarter and be strong enough for cross track im not really worried about my wife's safety because she wont be in it but if she is i'll definitely get some pics tag it as "The Stig and his wife" so back to my original question should i buy the material and build the cage my self or buy pre-bent pipes i have to notch and weld together

There is no such thing as a prebuilt 10 second legal cage

Also, you're an idiot.

I call troll. First just want cage imput, then oh its for my wifeys saftey, now oh i want a 10sec car, and she wont be in much and not concerned with her saftey.

Your a tool. You dont need a cage, nor in control of a 10sec car. May look into a gremlin or a pacer.

Ok anywho, on some real ****. Get a car that goes 10's then worry about a cage, in some series you can/will be penilized for having a cage even if you dont have power or et for it. Also did you consider needing laundry? Anything over 9.99/150 mph iirc you are required to carry/deploy laundry. And that has HAS to be figured into your cage or neg forces pulling againist can tear alot if **** up

Yes i understand but a cage can be added at any point, and 99% of build never make it to the point of needing one if for financial/ family/ part out what have you. So y add indo weight to a car when until you get high hp u will. E searching for every tenth
