Default Bolt Grade Bolt Class

Its time for me to build the b18b and Im looking for bolts to hang it on the stand.
I need M12x1.25 (correct?)

All bolts that I find that size are only Class 8.8 and Im remembering that is equivilent to sae Grade 5...
The correct grade is class 10.9, correct?
(Metric does not come in Grade 8 guys)

The engine will be sitting on the stand for a LOOONG time as I can only afford to build it slowly. Should I keep looking for class 10.9 or will 8.8 be enough??

(Ive tried McMasterCarr and they only carry 10.9 M12 in 1.75 thread...where else can I look (tried ho depot, ace, autozhit)

Heres a damn picture so people look

You are correct, 10.9 grade metric fasteners are high strength steel equivalent to Grade 8. I believe they should have a “10.9” stamp on the head of the bolt. As for bolting the block to the stand, I just used the transition mounting bolts.

are u going to have the head and alternator and all of the weight on the stand also?
or is it just going to be the block.
im not sure wat i used but im thinking they were 8.8, and i had an entire 1.5 liter hanging on there with a/c compressor and all and it held the weight.

I've just used the transmission bolts or really any larger high grade bolts that fit through the transmission mounting bolts. They don't necessarily have to be metric bolts because you aren't actually bolting into the block. ****, I used 4 8" construction lag bolts to hold my B18C on over the winter. I wouldn't worry about it too much, I mean when you yank the motor/tranny out of the car you are just holding it up by a ~3/8" bolt on the driver's side.

It is only a Honda engine, they don't weigh anything (in the world of motors anyways) don't worry about it.

Plastic bolts would probably be strong enough............

Just got to any hardware store and ask them for Grade 8 bolts, that would be strong enough.
