Blown head gasket?
I just got an 87 Accord 2bbl 5 speed. The girl said it ran fine then just started smoking badlywhile driving it. It had overheated on her a couple of times before that. It has been parked on a steep slope for 2 years now. I'm pretty sure it's a bad head gasket(or crack) but wanted to get opinions from people that know Honda's better than me; I am a Toyota mechanic. It smokes so bad from the exhaust i can't see the car. It doesn't appear to be getting exhaust in the radiator, the spark plugs are totally dry, and it runs smoothe. It is white smoke (or steam) from the exhaust and a white oil residue also in the exhaust pipe. Are these heads prone to crack at the exhaust ports? just curious what to expect. thanks in advance-
There is no coolant in the oil or bubbles in the radiator. Other than the white smoke there are no other blown head gasket symptoms. it's kind of strange; not what i normally see with a bad gasket. There isn't a coolant port in the intake manifold on the carb model, is there? i don't know this car very well.
