Default block gaurds

i want to know what eveybodys take is on block gaurds. i was thinking of buying one for my motor but wasnt sure how easy it is to install. could i install it myself or should i take it to a machine shop and have them install it for me? any comments or sugestions would be great.

i've ran them in my last 3 motors. havent had any problems. all u do it knock them in with a rubber mallet and maybe a punch to make sure it is below the top of the deck. may want to hone to make sure it doesnt warp the cylinders

This has been talked about to death, I dont think they will make any difference, it is only guarding the top. I have not installed one in mine, but then again i have yet to run my set up.
