Default block balancing

my engine went to the machine shop today. i have darton sleeves(closed deck design) je pistons and eagle rods, and ARP head studs going in. the owner told me i have to get the block rebalance after the sleeves go in, but he doesnt do it. i was just wondering what is involved in block balancing, and any cost estimates?? thanks

I never heard of block balancing. You can get the pistons and rods balanced or just the crank balanced (best idea) but how or why could you spin your block fast enough to ever try to balance it?

my motor just got balanced. a proper balance job is the lower rotating mass, that includes the crank, rods, rod bearings, pistons, piston rings, flywheel AND clutch. u can b assured all my stuff was there.

Maybe the word "rebalance" should be "resurfaced". Makes sense. If so then you are looking at $25-$35 for a clean-up pass.
